Project SHARE is a humanitarian program devoted solely to donating the blood-clotting medicine called factor to the bleeding disorder community in developing countries. Our recipients are patients, doctors, clinics, and hospitals in countries where factor is scarce or unavailable.

Our donations are used to treat life- and limb-threatening bleeds, and to enable surgeries and rehabilitation. Donated factor also helps attract patients to treatment centers for improved healthcare. In addition, we furnish educational materials and expertise to guide individuals with bleeding disorders, nonprofit organizations, physicians and clinics toward self-sufficiency.

Project SHARE saves lives.

Our Origins

Hemophilia is one of the most expensive chronic disorders to treat. Up to 75% of the world’s estimated 400,000 people with hemophilia have little or no access to the treatments that stop bleeds. Any bleed can cause unimaginable pain, but untreated bleeds can cause crippling or even death.

Before Project SHARE, millions of dollars worth of unused or unwanted blood-clotting medicine was destroyed annually. Due to federal regulations or specific medical situations, US treatment centers, specialty pharmacies and patients had nowhere to send it.

Thanks to our extensive contacts among US patients and hospitals, and our reputation as a trusted provider of consultation and aid, Project SHARE has shipped over 20 million units of “unwanted” factor to thousands of patients in 45 developing countries. That translates to approximately $20 million worth of life-saving medicine.

Project SHARE was founded in 2002 and is currently a partnership between LA Kelley Communications, Inc., and the following corporations: Baxter BioScience, Bayer HealthCare, CSL Behring, Grifols USA, Hemophilia Health Services, New England BioLabs, Novo Nordisk, Inc. Project SHARE represents the first time that pharmaceutical, biotech and home health service companies have partnered to run a program devoted to helping the world’s poor with bleeding disorders.
